Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2026

1. Introduction

Canvassed respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of voters, campaign workers, and citizens. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

2. Information We Collect

  • Voter Information: Publicly available demographic data, municipal complaint frequencies, zoning data, and historical turnout data.
  • Canvassing Data: Sentiments (e.g., supportive, undecided) collected by campaign volunteers during door-to-door visits.
  • Volunteer Data: Live GPS location tracking, speed, and heading to ensure safety and logistical efficiency during active canvassing shifts.
  • Algorithmic Profiling: We generate "Persuadability Scores" using Explainable AI based on collected predictive factors.

3. Data Retention and Pruning

We implement strict data retention schedules:

  • Canvasser Locations: Live GPS data is automatically purged after 24 hours.
  • Campaign Data: All property and canvass visit data is verifiably destroyed within 120 days post-election, complying with the Municipal Elections Act (MEA).

4. Local AI Processing

To maximize data security, Canvassed processes sensitive political data using a localized, bare-metal AI cluster. No personally identifiable information (PII) is sent to external commercial AI APIs (such as OpenAI or Google) for predictive sentiment analysis.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you and request its deletion. We provide a Citizen Transparency Portal where you can look up your address, view your algorithmic profile, and instantly revoke consent for psychographic modeling.
